Cross Schools Early Education offers full day preschool for children ages 6 weeks through Pre-K across three Bluffton campuses. With hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. included in tuition, there is space for your child to grow and support for your family’s day.

Play is the work of childhood. At Cross, teachers create opportunities for children to learn through play, explore the world around them, and practice the skills that help them grow.

01 / Curiosity

Learning through discovery

Our curriculum builds independence, social skills, thinking, problem solving, and fine and gross motor development. Classroom experiences introduce math, language arts, science, and social studies in ways that fit young learners.

02 / Movement

Room to explore outside

Age appropriate playgrounds make space for active play. Children have 30 to 40 minutes outdoors each morning and again each afternoon, weather permitting.

03 / Discovery

Early Education offers PE, STEM, Spanish, Library, Chapel, and Bible. Ask about the enrichment experiences available for your child’s age and campus when you visit.

From active play to a quiet rest, the preschool day gives children opportunities to learn, move, and recharge.

    Learning, play, and connection

    Teachers build opportunities to learn through play, with outdoor time each morning and afternoon when the weather allows.

  • Meal time

    Snacks and Lunch

    A morning snack is provided at all campuses. Lunch is provided at our North and South campuses.

    Time to rest

    Children over 12 months have a scheduled nap. Younger infants follow their own individual sleep schedules.

  • Weekly

    Gathering for chapel

    All Early Education students attend weekly chapel. Families are invited to Family Chapel once a month.

Faith is part of everyday learning at Cross. Bible stories, music, art, prayer, and chapel introduce children to God’s love in ways they can begin to understand.

Weekly chapel creates a shared rhythm of worship, and monthly Family Chapel invites you to be part of it.

Our hope is that these early experiences give children a foundation to keep growing, in their learning, their friendships, and their faith.

You should be able to picture both your child’s experience and how preschool fits into your day. Here are a few helpful things to know before you visit.

Two teachers in each classroom

Class size varies by age. A typical classroom for 3 and 4 year olds has 16 to 18 children and two teachers. Cross follows state regulations for ratios.

Safety is part of the routine

Doors are locked with keyed access, and cameras provide additional security. Cross schedules monthly fire drills and periodic tornado and lockdown drills. The Buckwalter Campus also has a Bluffton Police Department School Resource Officer.

A connection between home and school

Parents receive direct emails, newsletters, schoolwide texts, and phone calls as needed.

Ready for the day

Basic supplies include a labeled water bottle, backpack, lunch, afternoon snack, nap mat or small blanket, and extra clothes. Your child’s age group will have its own supply needs.

Buckwalter Campus North & South Campuses

  • What ages does Cross Schools Early Education serve?

    Cross Schools Early Education serves children from 6 weeks through Pre-K across three Bluffton campuses. Contact admissions to confirm the appropriate campus and classroom for your child’s age.

  • Is Cross Schools preschool full day?

    Yes. Cross Schools Early Education is a full day preschool, open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Children can attend five days per week. Before and after school hours within that schedule are included in tuition.

  • Does my child need to be potty trained?

    Children must be fully potty trained to be placed in a 3K classroom.

  • Are meals and snacks provided?

    A nutritious morning snack is provided at all three campuses. Lunch is provided at the North and South Campuses. Families at the Buckwalter Campus send lunch. All families send an afternoon snack. Ask your campus about supplies and feeding arrangements for your child’s age group.

  • Do children have a nap or rest time?

    Children over 12 months have a scheduled daily nap time from noon to 2 p.m. Children under 12 months nap on their individual schedules.

  • How large are the preschool classes?

    Class size varies by age. A typical classroom for 3 and 4 year olds has 16 to 18 students and two teachers. Cross Schools follows state regulations for student-to-teacher ratios.

  • Can I choose my child’s campus?

    Yes. Families can apply to a specific campus. Contact admissions to confirm age eligibility and availability before choosing a location.

  • When should I apply, and is there a waitlist?

    Apply early, as spaces are limited. Open enrollment begins in January, and families may enroll during the school year when space allows. Certain age groups have waitlists. Call 843-706-2000 for current availability.

  • Is financial assistance available for Early Education?

    Financial assistance is available for eligible K–12 students, but is not available for Early Education.

  • Can my child visit a classroom before enrolling?

    Yes. Cross Schools can arrange a classroom visit lasting one to two hours. Contact the appropriate campus admissions representative to coordinate a visit for your child.

  • Do Early Education students receive priority for kindergarten?

    Yes. Cross Schools Early Education students receive priority enrollment for kindergarten. Ask admissions about the next steps and timing for your child.

  • How do I schedule a preschool tour?

    To tour the Buckwalter Campus, email l.sturkie@crossschools.org . To tour the North or South Campus, email a.mcbride@crossschools.org . Include your child’s age, preferred campus, and desired start date so the team can help you plan your visit.
