Stacie Greene, Principal

Ms. Greene previously taught Honors English 2 and the AP/Dual-Enrollment Teacher Cadet class at May River High School in Bluffton. She also served as a Teacher Mentor and Evaluator. Ms. Greene is in her sixteenth year of education in which she has served grades 6-12 as a teacher, Literacy Instructional Coach, English Department Chair and Team Leader. Ms. Greene is highly-qualified in Secondary English Education with a Bachelor of Arts in English from The University of Georgia (‘01) and a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Piedmont College (‘04).

Previously, she taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English in her hometown of Gainesville, Georgia, as well as Charlotte, North Carolina and at Bluffton’s H.E. McCracken Middle School. In her ten years at H.E. McCracken Middle School, she also served as Literacy Instructional Coach, English Department Chair, Team Leader, Teacher Mentor, ADEPT/SAFE-T Evaluator, and the School Literary & Art Magazine Advisor/Editor.  In addition, Ms. Greene has served as an editor for NCATE (National Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation) and has presented at district, state, and national educational conferences.

Aside from her professional accomplishments, Ms. Greene feels “Being an educator has been one of the greatest honors in my life. As an educator, my hope has always been to empower students with finding his or her authentic voice so they can affect change in the broken systems they see around them.” Ms. Greene is excited for her new journey with Cross Schools. “I am looking forward to utilizing all of my experiences as an educator, teacher, and most importantly, a Christian as we build onto the existing K-8 program and develop a plan to continue a purpose-filled education for all students that ultimately serves our Lord and Savior.”

Ms. Greene is excited about her role as Principal and the opportunities that Cross Schools offers students and the Bluffton community in regards to academics, emotional and social support and growth, and authentic mission opportunities. DeLeon Johnson, Athletic Director

DeLeon has an extensive background as both an Athletic Director and Coach having worked for the Parks and Recreations department in both Orangeburg and Beaufort Counties along with serving as a coach for the last 10 years at the collegiate, high school, and middle school levels.  Coach Johnson makes the move to Cross from just up the road at H.E. McCracken Middle School where he has served as a Behavior Management Specialist in addition to his coaching duties at several levels with several sports programs here locally.

DeLeon and his wife, Tremelia, have three kids including a son, DeLeon Jr., a daughter, Ayana Denver, and their youngest son, Dakota. In describing his philosophy as a coach he states, “I understand athletic success goes hand in hand with academic success. As such, I encourage all my athletes to apply determination and hard work to their lives, both on and off the court/field.” He’s excited about the opportunity to build an elite athletics program not only in the Lowcountry but in the state of South Carolina. Christine Richard, Lower School Principal

Christine Richard grew up in the Hilton Head/Bluffton area since the age of five.  She went through the Hilton Head schools, graduating from Hilton Head High School in 2000.  After living abroad in Argentina and Spain, she completed her undergraduate studies at Winthrop University.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, and a minor in Spanish. Mrs. Richard has recently completed the Master Naturalist Program offered through the Lowcountry Institute in conjunction with Clemson Extension. 

 

After being a teacher since 2006, she is excited to join the Administration team. She brings with her a desire to come alongside students, parents, and staff in order to continue making Cross the place to be! Her years of being a classroom teacher have allowed her to obtain a well-rounded understanding of what makes a successful school experience. In her time at Cross, she has displayed dedication and hard work in establishing the Environmental Learning Class program. Mrs. Richard believes that each child is a gift from God and our school has a great responsibility in being part of their academic, spiritual, and emotional journey.Mrs. Richard and her husband have three children who attend Cross Schools.  Contact Mrs. Richard at c.richard@crossschools.org.  


Kate Brown, Academic Counselor

Kate Brown received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Davidson College in North Carolina, where she studied French and theatre and ran NCAA Division I track and cross country. Following her graduation from Davidson, she taught English in Cambodia with Peace Corps. Kate began her admissions career as an Admission Officer at Princeton University, focusing primarily on applicants from the southeast, the southwest, and New York. She then switched to the other side of the desk as a Senior Admissions Counselor for Expert Admissions in New York City, where she guided students through the college application process. Eager to return to the south, Kate began working as an Admissions Representative for the Savannah College of Art and Design, specializing in group tours and serving as an athletic liaison for admissions.
